Anzu Castle Gracula is coming to Steam

the reaction to my lil game has been very kind and positive so i thought it might be fun to put it on steam also for those who prefer it. the store page is live now if you care to wishlist it https://store.steampowered.com/app/3125600/Anzu_Castle_Gracula/

probably not the first qbasic game on steam but perhaps the first with achievements maybe :o

some changes upcoming due to the steam release

  • achievements, viewable ingame also should you play on a dos machine or thru dosbox or equivalent elsewhere
  • a manual, viewable either in a launcher or in a dos environment to explain all the deep lores. there is some!
  • some controller support through dosbox (still kb only for real dos for now i apologize)
  • menus navigable entirely by controller for the steam deck / gamepad fans
  • i lamented that the scythe isnt very generally useful so itll be buffed a bit

preemptive possible questions -

i bought the game on itch will i need to buy it again on steam?
-no, a steam key will be available to anyone who purchased the registered version in the past or purchases it in the future

i am no fan of steam will the version on itch be the same?
-yes there will be parity between all versions

will there be drm due to being on steam?
-no, the steam api is used only for unlocking achievements and cloud saves, not being logged in will only prevent those from functioning

i cant afford to buy / cant use payment processors / dont feel like purchasing the registered version.
-purchasing the registered version will remain just a way to show support and the versions will remain the same beyond the 'shareware version' label on the title screen. for a time the manual will be only included with the registered version, this is more of an artistic decision i may change my mind.

does this mean there may be an episode 2 and 3 for real?
-maybe! if i manage to get enough support to cover a few months of bills i wouldn't mind taking this project farther. let me know :o
